This is the start of a new area in medicine – and Pfizer Regenerative Medicine will shape it.Pfizer’s new Regenerative Medicine Unit has been created to extend Pfizer’s commitment to develop innovative new therapies to benefit patients with unmet medical needs. It takes advantage of recent scientific advances in understanding stem cells & the opportunities they provide to underpin more effective therapies.Pfizer Regenerative Medicine operates as one of Pfizer’s new small, independent research units & is expected to expand to employ around 70 researchers. Scientists operate in small, flexible teams with the capability to make decisions quickly & effectively. The unit is led by Chief Scientific Officer, Ruth McKernan, a distinguished scientist with 20 years in the pharmaceutical industry & experience leading research sites on both sides of the Atlantic. Pfizer Regenerative Medicine operates from two sites – one in Europe & one in the USA. The European site is based at Granta Park in Cambridge, UK; the US site is based at Pfizer’s Research Technology Center (RTC) in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Operating in these two locations ensures that we are able to develop collaborative relationships with some of the best stem cell scientists & clinicians in the world & translate that combined knowledge into therapies for patients. |
